The New Bait House

MacRae's, established in 1917, opened the new bait house for all your fishing needs earlier in May 2010.

We carry a complete line of fishing tackle, bait, lures and other accessories necessary for a good day of fishing, from sunblock to sunglasses to a cold beer. We also provide information of local activities and free maps for guests. Other services include boat rentals and gift cards. Boat docks are available for hotel guests with boats at no charge. There is also a large, newly redon public boat ramp adjacent to the bait house.

With miles of backcountry, crystal clear fish-filled waters, Homosassa has an abun¬dance of 10 pound redfish waiting to challenge the best of light tackle anglers. These redfish are powerful and are famous for their never tiring fighting ability.

The tarpon fishing in May and June is the world's best, with several flyrod records on the books. Speckled trout remain one of the most sought after fish and is available year round like the redfish. For offshore anglers, arrangements can be made for grouper or cobia. There are lots of other fish, too, swimming in our gulf waters such as shark, bluefish, king and Spanish mackerel, and up river,

you have some of the best bass and bream fishing anywhere.
